Upcoming Symposium: Caring in Vulnerable Constellations of Live-in Care

PAAR-net is pleased to announce the upcoming symposium Caring in Vulnerable Constellations of Live-in Care, which will take place on 25–26 June 2026 at Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, Germany.

The symposium will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, care workers, family carers, older adults, and stakeholders to explore participation in vulnerable constellations of live-in care. Through interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange, participants will discuss challenges, opportunities, and future directions for research, policy, and practice in the context of ageing, migration, and care.

The programme includes international contributions addressing topics such as migrant live-in care work, social protection, family caregiving, participation in care arrangements, ageing and human mobility, and the experiences of older adults, family carers, and live-in care workers. Participants will also engage in roundtable discussions and collaborative reflection sessions focused on strengthening participation and improving care systems.

A particular feature of the symposium is the inclusion of diverse perspectives from research, practice, policy, and lived experience. Discussions will bring together older adults, family carers, care workers, civil society organisations, and institutional stakeholders, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue across sectors and disciplines.

The event is organised within the framework of COST Action PAAR-net and will provide a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering collaboration, and exploring how participatory approaches can contribute to more inclusive and sustainable care arrangements.

COST Action CA22167

There is a significant international commitment to give non-academics a greater role in science to help deliver impactful research and realise the European vision of science for the people, by the people. To support this commitment, the PAAR-net COST Action focuses on knowledge co-production, labelled here as participatory approaches, in research, policymaking and practice.
