PAAR-Net Working Group 2 “Community and Place” is pleased to invite you to the third webinar in its webinar series:
Meaningful Participation and Voice: When Does Older Adults’ Participation Become a Democratic Action?
The third webinar will take place online on 15 July 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 CET.
This session welcomes Dr Maria Cheshire-Allen, who will present:
Beyond the Breaking Point: Addressing the Civic Debt of Unpaid Care in Wales
Drawing on findings from the DISC Social Care Fellowship and the INVALUABLE comparative project (Wales and the Basque Country), the presentation explores how unpaid carers are recognised as providers of essential labour while often remaining excluded from the democratic processes that shape their lives.
The session introduces the concept of democratic vulnerability as a framework for understanding this structural gap and its implications for participation research, civic inclusion, and democratic engagement.
Chair: Marion Scheider-Yilmaz
📅 Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2026 ⏰ Time: 13:00–14:00 CET 💻 Format: Online (Microsoft Teams)
