Marion Scheider-Yilmaz, grantee of Virtual Mobility in Grant Period 1

Bio:

Marion Scheider-Yilmaz is a postdoctoral researcher at the PACTE Laboratory, University of Grenoble Alpes, specialising in ageing, disability, and participation. During her Virtual Mobility Grant, Marion collaborated with Prof. Dr. Ute Karl and Dr. Anne Ramos through the PAAR-net COST Action. Together, they prepared a participatory workshop titled The Role of Participatory Approaches in Strengthening Democracy for Older Adults, exploring the intersection of participatory methods and democratic engagement in ageing societies.

Grant supported actions and initiatives:

The grant facilitated an interdisciplinary and international collaboration with researchers Marion met through her involvement in Working Group 2 “Community and Place” of the PAAR-net COST Action. Drawing on their respective research, the team developed an innovative method to engage attendees in meaningful discussions during the workshop. The workshop has been accepted at the prestigious European Conference for Social Work Research (ECSWR), reflecting PAAR-net’s commitment to advancing knowledge in participatory approaches.

Testimonial:

The Virtual Mobility Grant is a valuable resource for supporting preparatory work for conferences and collaborative formats. Thanks to the grant, Marion collaborated with researchers from diverse disciplines and countries, leading to the creation of an innovative workshop for a conference she hadn’t previously attended. This experience underscores the importance of funding opportunities in fostering encounters between scholars from various fields and renewing knowledge about participation approaches with older adults.

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding agency for research and innovation networks. Our Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and enable scientists to grow their ideas by sharing them with their peers. This boosts their research, career and innovation.

COST Action CA22167

There is a significant international commitment to give non-academics a greater role in science to help deliver impactful research and realise the European vision of science for the people, by the people. To support this commitment, the PAAR-net COST Action focuses on knowledge co-production, labelled here as participatory approaches, in research, policymaking and practice.
