PAAR-Net Working Group 2 “Community and Place” is pleased to invite you to the second webinar in its webinar series:
Meaningful Participation and Voice: When Does Older Adults’ Participation Become a Democratic Action?
The second webinar will take place online on 13 May 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 CET.
This session welcomes architect Helle-Triin Hansumäe, who will present:
Test Before Invest: Age-Friendly Inclusion in a Small Estonian Village
The presentation explores how a small-scale “Test-Before-Invest” experiment in Jõesuu village was used to rethink age-friendly public space, mobility, and community participation. Through the example of Jõesuu Village Day, the session demonstrates how temporary prototypes, low-threshold participation tools, and intergenerational activities can help include older residents who are often excluded from formal planning processes.
The webinar also highlights how supporting autonomy, competence, and relatedness can contribute not only to improved public space solutions, but also to trust, resilience, and a shared sense of belonging in rural communities.
