PAAR-net is pleased to share the programme and abstract books for the symposium Caring in Vulnerable Constellations of Live-in Care, taking place on 25–26 June 2026 at Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, Germany.
The symposium will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, care workers, family carers, older adults, and other stakeholders to explore participation in vulnerable constellations of live-in care. Through interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange, participants will discuss current challenges, opportunities, and future directions for research, policy, and practice in the context of ageing, migration, and care.
The programme features international contributions addressing topics such as migrant live-in care work, social protection, family caregiving, participation in care arrangements, ageing and human mobility, and the experiences of older adults, family carers, and live-in care workers. Participants will also engage in roundtable discussions and collaborative reflection sessions aimed at strengthening participation and improving care systems.
A particular strength of the symposium is its commitment to bringing together perspectives from research, practice, policy, and lived experience. Discussions will create opportunities for meaningful dialogue among older adults, family carers, care workers, civil society organisations, institutional stakeholders, and researchers across disciplines.
The symposium is organised by Ute Karl (Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg, Germany), Anne Carolina Ramos (University of Fribourg, Switzerland), and Ursula Trummer (Center for Health & Migration, Austria) within the framework of COST Action PAAR-net. The event provides a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and critical reflection on how participatory approaches can contribute to more inclusive and sustainable care arrangements.
