Nora Peduzzi, grantee of Virtual Mobility in Grant Period 2
Bio:
I hold a master’s degree in Social Anthropology and Sociology and I am currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Basel within the EPICENTRE-PARTICIPATIO project. My doctoral research focuses on the participation of older adults living with home-based long-term care in Switzerland with a particular interest in how participatory practices are understood and experienced within this care context.
Grant supported actions and initiatives:
Following the PAAR-net COST Action Knowledge Exchange Event (KEE) in Vilnius, I joined a collaborative initiative between different researchers from WG1 and WG4. The aim of this interdisciplinary collaboration is to advance conceptual and theoretical understandings of participatory approaches by facilitating dialogue across disciplines including gerontology, sociology, anthropology, social work, educational science and political science. A central focus lies in the development of a theoretical framework that maps how participation is conceptualized across these fields, with a particular focus on epistemological and methodological differences in how participatory paradigms are defined and operationalized.
Testimonial:
Thanks to the Virtual Mobility (VM) grant, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Barbara Groot-Sluijsmans, Thibauld Moulaert, Carlo Fabian, Anna Urbaniak, Heidi Kaspar, Katja Jungo and Sandra Staudacher in a series of regular online meetings. Our discussions focused on the theoretical dimension of participatory research with older adults and led to the development of the “Reflexive Rubik’s Cube” – a conceptual tool designed to critically think about participatory research practices. The final outcome of this collaboration will be an article that introduces the “Reflexive Rubik’s Cube” to a wider audience.
